FLY ON by THE FREIGHT: THEY KEEP IT COMING.“Gaslighting the End Times” by The Helters.“Life After Life (Super Cut)” by Patches.“I Don’t Need Anyone” by Darrian Gerard.“ Day In The Sun“, his opera prima, expands the nature of his sound and carves deeper into a world filled with overdrives, vintage microphones and foggy rooms. “ So Low“ opens up the EP with an immediate, fierce guitar, shredding its way into the world of blues, where old whiskey, sweaty hands and the smell of cigarettes are king. Each song has its own tale to tale, and you’ll love each one of them. Vintage sounding guitars, covered with the raw, crude emotion of Johnny’s playing is present throughout the EP. Used to having the backup of a whole band, Johnny entered into unexplored territory and took over the task to produce everything on his own, including recording! Not an easy task for anyone new to this waters, but, as a matter of fact, he nailed it.ĭone in isolation, the EP consists of four different songs, each one of them with a unique style and sound but very much part of a single, global sound. Lewis has also composed the musicals: Video Games: The Rock Opera, Treasure Island, Pinocchio, A Very British Christmas, Sugar Plum Panto, The Elves and the Schumackers, DJ Whittington – A Hip-Hop Panto, and Soaring on Black Wings, a world premiere with Ben Vereen.After a potential career ending accident in 2015, Johnny found himself focusing on the power of music to aid to his recovery. He also composed music for Wings of Ikarus, Jason Invisible, and Mockingbird (two Helen Hayes nominations), all of which were commissioned and premiered at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Some favorite theatre projects outside of university life include music directing and orchestrating the national tour and Off-Broadway premiere of The Berenstain Bears LIVE! in Family Matters, the Musical Gypsy at the Hangar Theatre in New York (Broadway World Award for Best Music Direction) A Little Night Music at the Performance Network (Wilde Award for Best Music Direction) Legally Blonde at MSU (Pulsar Award for Best Music Direction) Irrational (Composer, Wilde Award for Best New Script) and Romance in Hard Times with William Finn at the Barrington Stage Co. In addition to being the band leader with Ann Arbor’s own band Accidentally Hip, Lewis is the composer and music director for Eastern Michigan University’s School of Communication, Media, and Theatre Arts and a lecturer and accompanist with the School of Music and Dance. MacKenzie Lewis has been an arranger, composer, pianist, and music director in South East Michigan for nearly two decades. We’ll move the artists inside and pivot to a livestreamed concert on the same date and time at a private link that will be shared only with ticket holders. * The Lot Lounge is an in-person event venue outside in our back parking lot. The winner of bingo will get a chance to play a game with those for a chance at prizes! Born out of the need for a distraction from the global chaos, it included music, singing, games, nostalgia, shenanigans, trivia, and allowed for audiences to connect with the host and each other through an interactive game they could access on their computer or smartphone.įast forward more than a year later and Lounge Lizard Bingo comes to audiences live and in person at the Kerrytown Concert House! Hosted by its creator, the in-person show will continue to have the specially designed digital game card that audiences can access on their phones throughout the show which will allow them to participate in trivia, earn points, and have a chance to choose songs to be performed.
